Merry Christmas

December is here and in my life, it’s been the month God has shown Himself strong on my behalf. Let me boast on the Lord for a minute: December 2006 - brand new luxury debt free vehicle December 2010 - new house December 2012 - surprise day of beauty sponsored by a group of ladies December 2015 - won a corporate global award at my job December 2017 - the man who’d become my husband let it be known he was pursuing me to marry me While God is not bound by time, the manifestations of His goodness are evidence to never count Him in ANY calendar year. Especially in 2020. I’ve seen comments about people being ready to hurry up and get to 2021.  We still have twenty-four more days for God’s glory to shine! Think about it: you’ve made it this far into a year that has had our heads turning and spinning very which way. That’s praiseworthy alone! Hallelujah! Proverbs 17:22 says “A merry heart does good, like medicine, But a broken spirit dries the bones.” When we’ve had a tough year, it might be

Spiritual Civil War

“The body of Christ is the only army that fights against itself.”  As soon as the words were said, they resonated strongly in my heart.  My mind flipped to the number of times I’d secretly judged or belittled another Christian.  How many times had I condemned another brother or sister in Christ?  How many times had I rejoiced in their inequities instead of lifting them up to the Lord in prayer?  I’m not sure how many times, but ONE time is too many.  The level of envy, strife and malice in the body of Christ is unacceptable.  The change we need to see is the change we need to be.  Family, come walk with me.

1.       2 Timothy 2:23 says But avoid foolish and ignorant disputes, knowing that they generate strife. It is time out for cattiness and pettiness.  Nobody cares what color the choir robes are, if we wear robes or not, and neither do they care what color the carpet is.  What people care about is being loved, healed, delivered, and set free.  They want to see their lives changed.  They want to see that the church is different.  If we continue to look and act like the world in ANY way, we will continue to decline as a dominating force in this world.  We will also continue to put a bad taste in the mouths of those who are seeking to drink the living water of God.  Let’s keep moving family…

2.       Shut down the gossip millProverbs 11:13 says A talebearer reveals secrets, But he who is of a faithful spirit conceals a matter.  When someone comes to us in confidence that means they trust us to keep what we’ve said to them.  If we cannot be faithful to conceal what we’ve been trusted to guard, what else are we unfaithful in? Are we unfaithful in prayer? Are we unfaithful in tithing? Are we unfaithful in serving?  Faithfulness is a fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22) and as believers we have to learn to operate in it all the time. The one who runs his or her mouth usually is the one not doing very much of anything because when you are productive for the Kingdom of God, you don’t have time to gossip and “tale bear.”   We should no longer disguise gossip as a prayer request.  We are ministers of reconciliation and we are restorers.  Gossip sows discord and God hates the sower of discord. (Proverbs 6:16-19). Now, let’s round this curve and cross the finish line…

3.       Keep our mouths off the men and women of God.  I’ll go even further and say don’t let anyone else put their mouths on the men and women of God.  1 Timothy 5:17 says Let the elders who rule well be counted worthy of double honor, especially those who labor in the word and doctrine. You may not agree with a particular decision he/she makes but do not put your mouth on them.  Refrain from being critical, judgmental, insensitive and insubordinate.  They were chosen to lead at your place of worship.  Honor them, respect them and reverence them.

We should always be maturing and growing citizens of the Kingdom of God. We are His ambassadors in this earth realm so we have to act like it because people are ALWAYS watching.  Warring against each other in any fashion is ungodly. He drew us with lovingkindness and we are to draw the world with the very same lovingkindness. (Jeremiah 31:3).  For further mediation, I encourage you to read 1 Corinthians 13, Romans 12:10 and 1 Peter 2:1.  Family, be blessed and walk in the fullness of His love.
