Merry Christmas

December is here and in my life, it’s been the month God has shown Himself strong on my behalf. Let me boast on the Lord for a minute: December 2006 - brand new luxury debt free vehicle December 2010 - new house December 2012 - surprise day of beauty sponsored by a group of ladies December 2015 - won a corporate global award at my job December 2017 - the man who’d become my husband let it be known he was pursuing me to marry me While God is not bound by time, the manifestations of His goodness are evidence to never count Him in ANY calendar year. Especially in 2020. I’ve seen comments about people being ready to hurry up and get to 2021.  We still have twenty-four more days for God’s glory to shine! Purification of a Queen Part 3: In All Your Getting

Last year, I started a blog series called Purification of a Queen. I intended to do all four parts back to back, but due to my own lack of diligence and faithfulness, it didn't happen. So, here we are, over a year later, continuing with part three. Please accept my apologies and let us move into today's post with excitement.

Esther 2:5-14 has been the backdrop for this series. Every time I read the book of Esther, I see similarities in my own life, which inspired me to write this series.  In the first part of this series, titled A Good Name is Rather to Be Chosen, I talked about the importance of having a good name. In part two, titled Come out From Among Them, I went on to discuss the critical element of separating ourselves from those who walk in darkness or who have ungodly influences on us. Today, I'll continue the series with discussing the importance of seeking, accepting and acting on godly wisdom.

In Esther 2:10 we see that Mordecai instructed Esther not to reveal her heritage to them, perhaps because of the hostility towards Jews in the society.  In chapter four when she learned that Mordecai was wearing garments of mourning, she inquired of him to find out why. Even in that conversation, Mordecai still spoke wisdom to her about the decree that went out ordering all the Jews to be killed and how it could affect her even though she was the queen! She didn’t let her position go to her head. She headed his wisdom and fasted.  It wasn’t until chapter seven that she revealed her identity. At this point it was necessary because she was making an attempt to save her people. By following wisdom and instructions, she was able to save her people. Hallelujah!

            The book of Proverbs admonishes us to seek wisdom and get understanding. Perhaps, you’re asking yourself “How do I seek wisdom?” or “How do I know if it’s wisdom from God?”  Come, take a walk with me through the Word of God so we can “see what we can see!”

            Our first stop is Proverbs 2. As we read through Proverbs 2, we gain an understanding that God WANTS us to get His wisdom. You must first decide that you need His wisdom. As you continue reading the book of Proverbs, you’ll see this same theme throughout. However, Proverbs 8 speaks of the power of God’s wisdom and how He used it to create the earth.  That’s real power! Prayer and fasting are extremely great ways to seek God's wisdom.

            Our next stop is James 3:13-17. Now that you’ve decided you need His wisdom, you next have to learn the characteristics of His wisdom. This passage of scripture describes the wisdom of the world versus the wisdom of God. Do you see the difference? Wisdom from the world is sensual (based on your feelings, in the natural, not spiritual) and demonic. God’s wisdom is pure, peaceable, gentle and willing to yield. It will always bring results of peace and it is not perverted or twisted. God says what He means and means what He says.You can trust what He says!

            Our last stop is James 1:5.  You’ve decided you need His wisdom, you’ve learned the characteristics of His wisdom so now you must decide to always seek it and believe He will give it to you. James 1:5 shows the promise that He will liberally give us wisdom if you ask. He will give us as much wisdom as we ask for! Second Chronicles 26 talks about King Uzziah. As long as he sought the Lord, God made him prosper. If you continue reading in the same chapter, you’ll see what happens when he became prideful and stopped seeking the Lord.

At the instruction of my Pastor I’ve been reading a chapter of Proverbs daily. Whatever the date is, I read the corresponding chapter in Proverbs. I've been doing this for a few years and I still learn something every time I read! Proverbs is FULL of wisdom for day to day living. However, I won’t limit this to just the book of Proverbs. The entire Word of God IS wisdom! As my Pastor taught us, wisdom is Divinely gained application, understanding is Divinely gained comprehension, and knowledge is Divinely gained information.  Don’t be afraid to ask God questions and WAIT for an answer. There is NO question that’s too big or too small for Him to answer, and neither are there any “dumb questions”.  Once you receive your answer, DO IT! Following God will always yield the greatest results.

Death of Expectations
